And There Was Much Rejoicing

I love my church.
I don't remember the last time I felt more at peace or confident in a house of worship.  The members speak my name when offering me communion; they embrace me with greetings of peace.
I always believed that church was meant to mirror a family; an intimate connection amongst the members.
Thus far my attempts at church fulfillment have amounted to heavy laden politics, legalism, segregation, and occasionally collapse and deconstruction.  Nearly all have abandoned first century practices, sacrificed to the media gods and Chris Tomlin.  Lest I forget the elitist groups donning ties and long skirts, casting down stares to those in torn jeans and hoodies...as though Jesus expects us to wear starched cotton in order to approach His seat of mercy and grace.
Rejoice Lutheran is a stark contrast to the average church structure.  It reaches out to all people, all nations, all personalities.  There is a genuine love outpouring from the smiles of each face I meet.
At Rejoice, I am home.
I love my church.
